Sturdy, long lasting frame - made from aluminium, the frame is both rust and rot proof and maintenance free. Aluminium also has the benefit of being lightweight, making it possible for you to easily move the frame around your garden if required.  For secure anchorage the cold frame has legs at each corner that can be pushed into the ground. If you are placing your cold frame on hard ground simply ask us to supply the cold frame without legs.

Maximum heat retention -is achieved by the cold frame being glazed on all sides and top with 4mm thick, double-skinned polycarbonate.  This retains the heat as there are air gaps trapped within the structure of the polycarbonate, helping to keep things warm in the winter and cool in the summer.  Polycarbonate also provides good light transmission, giving a soft diffused light which reduces the chance of scorching and also encourages healthy plant growth.  Polycarbonate has a life expectancy of approx. 10 years.

Hinged lids for variable ventilation - Modular Cold Frames each have a hinged lid (approx. 47 inches long), that can be fixed in two opening positions - half or fully open - or can be securely closed in poor weather.

Loads of growing space - at 18 inches (46cm) high at the back sloping to 15 inches (38cm) high at the front there is lots of available height when growing taller plants or shrubs.  As the cold frames have no dividing barrier they are ideal for protecting long rows of plants and are ideal when growing plants that need loads of space to spread about - such as courgettes.
